CASE STUDY 1     -     THE MAGIC WELL
Location: The garden of a 400 year old house with a view of the Solent.
Job Description: This property changed ownership about a year ago and the new owners wanted to
make a feature of the old well.
In their own words, the effect we achieved was "Magical".

The original well

The original well, before we started work.
The following sequence of photos gives an idea of the work involved in transforming the well,
but some trade of our secrets are not revealed and some subtle details have been missed out for obvious reasons.

#
The well had been plugged

The well had been plugged with a concrete plug some years ago and a plastic liner had been fitted around the side walls.
The capping stones were all loose and it was generally in a sorry state.

#
Removing the plug and liner revealed some surprises

Removing the plug and liner revealed an old bulkhead light, strapped to a piece of rusty metal pipe,
crumbling mortar, an old plastic water pipe and several other surprises.

#
Brick and render

The brick & render work was done by the award winning Stuart from Bunney Builders with obvious results.
Interleaved with Stuart's work, we fitted the cabling for the new lights.

#
hiding of cables to the lights

The cables to the lights need to be invisible when the work is complete, so they run in conduits
under the paving to the switching point.

#
custom made brackets are fitted to the brickwork

Custom made brackets were fitted to Stuart's brickwork to hold the new lights.

High quality solid aluminium double ended LED lights in place.
This setup floods light down and up from the lighting points, giving a spectacular overall effect.

#
Testing the lights before fitting the grill

Testing the lights is always a good idea before fitting the grill.

Sockets, lights and RCD protected distribution board inside the van.
For a mobile installation it's important that everything can withstand the stress of moving.
It's no good having the lights fall off the ceiling every time you hit a speed bump !

CASE STUDY 3     -     KITCHEN ANTI-FLOOD DEVICE
Location: A bungalow on the edge of the New Forest.
Job Description: An elderly lady with poor hearing and eyesight was in the habit of leaving the kitchen taps running and
walking away, leaving the kitchen to flood. On fitting her 2nd kitchen after water damage, her family
decided to look for a solution. Handbasin style, self close taps were not acceptable to the customer,
as she wanted a normal monoblock mixer tap. Our solution was to fit a motion sensor in the kitchen ceiling
trained on the sink area, controlling a pair of electrically operated valves. On detecting lack of movement
in the sink area, both the hot and cold water supply to the kitchen mixer tap is shut off.
